after exhausting all episodes of South Park on YouTube, i have been searching for a viable alternative to keeping myself sane. thankfully, Mr Ng Nian Long has introduced me to the wonders of Hard Gay.
-_- no silly, we were not having butt sex. Hard Gay is this Japanese guy who goes around doing really silly and absurd stuff, and saying really absurd things while he is in this pseudo-biker leather gay stud character. in my opinion, he essentially represents the Romantic rebel who fights causes in order to overthrow the archetypal father figure that is represented by bureaucratic corporations and stubborn mindsets.
i thought the best example of this was during the TOMY episode where he fought to get a Hard Gay toy produced just for him. you can watch it in two parts: one and two to get a better picture of what the fuck is going on. it is really funny shit that had me literally laughing out loud.
which incidentally creates quite a nice introduction for the main part of this post, because i just heard this piece of news from the horse’s mouth: The Dubious Sister SMS-ed me a while ago (cos i think she was covering Nomination Day at Bukit Panjang Government High School) to tell me that i will be voting for the first time in my life. Aljunied GRC, held by the PAP (in case you didn’t know), is being contested by the Workers’ Party!
apart from the excitement brought about by the novelty of being able to vote, there is a strong sense of the mounting importance of this event which is building in me. i think it really is true that this election will be a momentous point in Singapore’s history, and something that political scientists will write about in the future (if the world doesn’t end before they get round to doing it, that is) because whatever is going to happen next Saturday will leave a lasting impact on Singapore society for years to come.
so ladies and gentlemen, please do watch Hard Gay first before you place your vote on Saturday, especially if you live in Aljunied GRC too. then if you believe in Hard Gay, and you believe not so much in the rebellious ideal of overturning that which is good for the sake of anarchy, but rather overturning that which is good to make it even better for the sake of democracy then you know what to do:
suck my balls.
hehe no, just kidding. you have to vote wisely. because this revolution to overturn that which is good to make it even better does not stop on Sat, 06 May. no, it is going to carry on into AY06/07, and on the Terraces of Heng Mui Keng, where more rights will be fought for, with many pride and with many honour, in a fashion that i think even Hard Gay himself would say ‘Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay!’ to.
and if you need more convincing, then listen to The Rolling Stones:
Street Fighting Man
by The Rolling Stones
Ev’rywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy
Cos summer’s here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy
But what can a poor boy do?
Except to sing for a rock ’n’ roll band
Cos in sleepy London town
There’s just no place for a street fighting man
No!
Hey! Think the time is right for a palace revolution
But where I live the game to play is compromise solution
Well, then what can a poor boy do?
Except to sing for a rock ’n’ roll band
Cos in sleepy London town
There’s no place for a street fighting man
No!
Hey! Said my name is called disturbance
I’ll shout and scream, I’ll kill the king, I’ll rail at all his servants
Well, what can a poor boy do?
Except to sing for a rock ’n’ roll band
Cos in sleepy London town
There’s no place for a street fighting man
No!
