The gaps between Fridays and Saturdays are always the most Sisyphean because I resent having my Saturdays taken away from me like that.
And it’s worse when I cannot sleep.
But I keep on telling myself not to worry, Laremy Lee, because in two months, this will not matter anymore. (I will be graduating to a new set of problems but still.)
Anyway, what is more important is that I am currently quite intrigued by this Erlend Oye rendtion of “Boys Don’t Cry” by The Cure.
Erlend Oye is one-half of Kings of Convenience, which has been much inspiration/influence on my own musical style (which has also been curiously shaped by the blues although I really don’t know how and I’m still trying to find out how the blues seeped in.)
But as a matter in fact (lol), after I saw/heard this video, I managed to figger out a version that is very me, and which I would like to record/upload as a response to the video.
My version, if I ever get round to doing it, has an Amaj7 Bm7 Cm7 Dm7 progression, and if you listen to “Lovely” you’ll understand why it’s very me.
Now all I need is time, a video recording device and a lot of guts.
One step at a time lah.
